List of products by brand CHÂTEAU LYNCH BAGES

Located at the gates of Pauillac , a few hundred meters from the town, Château Lynch-Bages takes its name from the old hamlet of Bages where generations of winegrowers lived. In the middle of the 18th century, the Lynch family became masters of the place and extended the efforts of the former owners, who raised the quality of the wines over the years.

Since 1939 the château has been run by the Cazes family, currently with Sylvie and Jean-Charles Cazes at the helm. A philosophy that guides actions, both in the vineyard and in the cellar? It can be summed up in a few words: wine is an art of living as much as a drink. This is how Les Cazes has been vinifying for years, in an approach of excellence.

The 100 hectares of vines are located on the Bages plateau and near the Château Mouton-Rothschild , on a magnificent terroir that sums up the best of the Médoc: well-drained and well-exposed gravel hilltops from the Garonne. The grape varieties are the fruit of the intimate understanding that the owners of their vines have. Today it is made from 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, the king of Médoc , at 15% of merlot , 10% Cabernet Franc and 2% of small verdot . The average age of the vines is around 30 years, the oldest being over 60 years old. In 2006 a plot division by the use of satellite technologies was set up, making it possible to carry out vinification by plot and thus to enhance the specificity of the terroir.

The harvest is manual, the vinification takes place in the spectacular new vat room, very refined and at the cutting edge of technology (everything works by gravity), designed by the architect Chien Chung Pei, finished just in time for the 2020 harvest, and the month aging in oak barrels (2/3 new barrels) lasts about 15 months. 6 hectares are reserved for white, with grape varieties white sauvignon Semillon and Muscadelle . This white ferments in oak barrels on its lees for a period of 6 months with regular stirring.

Still considered to deserve better than the 5th classified growth classification of Pauillac the wines of Lynch-Bages, of flawless regularity, are powerful, structured, flattering, intense, racy, vigorous and very long-lived. Real Pauillacs. The second wine, always attractive, bears the pretty name “ Echo de Lynch-Bages ”. The Lynch-Bages white is one of the first whites to have been produced in the Médoc. It is powerful, precise, very aromatic.
