THE HISTORY OF MOKO RUM

In 1869, Ernest and Maurice Lasserre, two brothers from Bordeaux, decided to create their brand of rum “MOKO”.

Imported from Martinique and Jamaica, MOKO rums are selected by the two brothers with a concern for quality and tradition. At the same time, they perfected distillation and aging techniques in order to differentiate themselves from the rums offered at that time. These rums quickly enjoyed great success, collecting medals, but the 1960s saw the end of production and distribution.

To the delight of fans, 2017 is witness to the rebirth of MOKO RUM.

With his experience in wines and spirits, Philippe Peyrat, assisted by his children Clémence and Edouard, great-great-grandchildren of Ernest Lasserre, decided to relaunch production, bringing up to date the methods used by their ancestors in the universe rum.
