In 1932 in the bakery of a small village in the heart of Belgium Jan Boone Sr. creates a delicious caramelized biscuit from good ingredients. He then decides to call it Lotus in reference to his favorite flower symbol of purity.

In the 1950s, to promote the good conservation of his cookies, Jan Boone Sr. began to wrap them individually. They are then adopted with enthusiasm by the restaurateurs who serve them as an accompaniment to coffee.
