Once upon a time there was a beautiful family story, right in the heart of Brive-la-Gaillarde. Since the 19th century, plants have been distilled, fruits macerated, green walnuts pressed and always with the same gestures, the same recipes taken from an old grimoire. The Denoix Distillery is a real institution registered with the Living Heritage Companies which is passed down from generation to generation.

It was in 1839 that Pierre Lacoste founded the distillery. He will be joined very quickly by Louis Denoix, who will bring his ideas and in particular the development of a flagship product of the territory: the walnut. This is how the “Supreme de Noix” was born, this liqueur with multiple digestive virtues. Other recipes will be developed throughout the 5 generations that perpetuate the tradition, as well as a recipe brought up to date: purple mustard from the Pays de Brive. Paul and Marie joined the family business in 2019 on the occasion of the 180th anniversary of the house, labeled “Living Heritage Company”, a great recognition. They strive to respect in the purest of traditions all the recipes put in place by their ancestors and invite you to indulge and taste in all moderation.

A culinary specialty brought up to date by Elie Denoix, the famous grape must mustard is exported to many countries! It was a pope from Corrèze, Clement VI, who gave it back its letters of nobility in the 14th century, by commissioning a mustard maker from Avignon. Subtle and soft, it perfectly complements traditional Corrèze dishes, such as black pudding, mic or to deglaze meat jus, such as duck breast, veal or pork tenderloin.
