List of products by brand CASTILLO DE CANENA
Heir to an olive-growing tradition that began in 1780, our company takes its name from the family castle located on the hill in the municipality of Canena, in the province of Jaén (Andalusia).
Located in the rich environment of the Guadalquivir Valley, the family castle of Canena gives name to our extra virgin oils. Close to Úbeda and Baeza, two World Heritage towns that are magnificent representatives of Andalusian cultural tradition.
Castillo de Canena, erected by the Arabs on a Roman base, was converted into a fortress of the Order of Calatrava during the Reconquest, until in 1538 D. Francisco de los Cobos, secretary to Charles V, l acquired and turned it into the Palacio Castle, which housed the Emperor himself under its roof.
The castle was declared a National Monument in 1931, then was later restored and kept by our family.
Olive oil has had a central role in our culture and economy for more than 3,000 years, and Jaén is its prime location. Our olive groves are nestled in the Alto Guadalquivir Valley, between the mountains of Cazorla and Mágina, in those lands where our family farm is located. It is on these irrigated lands that we harvest the olives of classic varieties such as Picual, Arbéquina and Royal with which we produce a high quality extra virgin oil.
From the meticulous care of the trees to the arrival of our oil in the various points of sale in more than 40 countries around the world, in Castillo de Canena we personally control the entire process of elaboration and distribution of our products. This is what makes us different.
