In 1956, Robert and Simone Berthaut resurrected the incomparable taste of Epoisses, a cheese threatened with disappearance at the end of the two world wars. Their name quickly becomes a reference. More than 60 years later, Fromagerie Berthaut perpetuates this demand for quality and respect for the terroir, serving the AOP Epoisses but also the IGP Soumaintrain.

It was in 1956, in the heart of the village of Epoisses, that a young couple of farmers, saddened to see the local cheese slowly dying out, decided to produce it themselves, for their personal consumption. In the cellar of their family home, Robert and Simone Berthaut began a long and hazardous apprenticeship for the uninitiated that they were. The beginning of a family epic, that of the rebirth of a pure product from the Burgundy region.
