The Roscoff AOP onion is characterized by its pink color as well as its taste and preservation qualities. The Roscoff onion is part of the Liliaceae family and comes from a seed brought from Portugal to the Roscoff region by a monk in the middle of the 17th century.

Thanks to its specific taste qualities, it obtained its AOC recognition in 2009 and its AOP (protected designation of origin) in 2013. The Roscoff AOP onion production area is spread over 24 municipalities around Roscoff.

The AOP guarantees the origin of the product, its natural conservation and the cleaning by hand of each onion, but also the know-how of the Prince de Bretagne market gardeners.

The characteristic packaging of the Roscoff onion is the braid which allows them to be better preserved.
