We know the favorite regional dish of the French!

On the occasion of the Salon de l'Agriculture, RTL radio invited its listeners to choose their favorite regional dish.

Nine dishes were in competition: bouillabaisse, stuffed cabbage, brioche sausage, sauerkraut, chicken in the pot, carbonade Flemish, cassoulet, Vallée d'Auge chicken and full galette.

More than 107,000 people voted among nine emblematic dishes, and we know the big winner.

From February 25 to March 5, the city of Paris hosted the Salon de l'Agriculture. For its 2023 edition, this annual event which highlights the terroir of the French regions, and which had the cow Salers Ovalie as its muse, welcomed no less than 615,204 visitors.

Among the 9 dishes in competition, we found: bouillabaisse (Bouches-du-Rhône), carbonade flamande (Nord), cassoulet (Aude), sauerkraut (Haut-Rhin), stuffed cabbage (Puy-de-Dôme ), the whole galette (Brittany), the hen in the pot (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), the Vallée d'Auge chicken (Calvados) and the brioche sausage (Rhône).

For 10 days, more than 107,000 people took part in the vote. The competition was tight since sauerkraut came in second place with 31% of the votes. With 32% of the votes, and 34,340 votes, it is the traditional Breton recipe of the complete galette which is elected favorite regional dish of the French.

1st: Complete Breton pancakes (32% of the votes)

The complete pancake is a must for savory crepes. There are several variations of this typical Brittany recipe. The most classic is made with ham, egg and grated cheese. It can be accompanied by a seasoned green salad and a bowl of raw or sweet cider, depending on your preference.

3rd: Stuffed cabbage (9% of votes)

4th: Cassoulet (9% of votes)

5th: Carbonades Flemish (7% of votes)

6th: Auge Valley chicken thighs

7th: Brioche sausage
